The creation of the Data Science major is a direct response to the growing demand of business for highly specialised staff with knowledge in processing, analysis, visualization, as well as data-driven decision-making and causal inference. People working in this area need to combine knowledge and skills in the field of the latest IT technologies, such as Big Data, Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning, or the Internet of Things. Understanding business processes and customers’ needs, as well as communication skills, are also crucial. The number of job offers for people working in the Data Science area is constantly growing.

To meet the needs of the market and employers, UMCS in cooperation with Lingaro – a global company providing solutions in the field of Business Intelligence and Data Analytics has created this semester a new course – Data Integration for Business Intelligence, which will be conducted by Lingaro Experts within ‘Data Science’ studies.

Thanks to our strong position on the market and our expert knowledge, we have the opportunity to co-create a new course in Data Science at UMCS. This is an important step for us in building substantive cooperation with the University and students – comments Filip Merklejn, Head of Lublin site at Lingaro. Our experts share their practical knowledge in the field of rapidly changing areas of data analytics and IT technology. We will also support students in acquiring business skills required in cooperation with clients from various industries.

During a Master’s degree in Data Science, students will receive the tools that will help them to achieve success in this field. The participation of Lingaro experts, who work in the business environment on a daily basis, is a key element of the program. The combination of UMCS experience with the position of Lingaro as one of the leaders in data analytics translates into high value and innovation of the course – emphasizes professor Mariusz Kicia Ph.D, Dean of the Faculty of Economics.
