Lublin launches Sectoral Skills Centre in Robotics!

The former school workshops at the Transport and Communication Schools Complex (ZSTK) in Lublin have been completely transformed - they have been converted into a modern Sectoral Skills Centre in the field of robotics, equipped with five specialised laboratories that will train experts in one of the most future-oriented sectors.

“The opening of the Sectoral Skills Centre at the Transport and Communication Schools Complex is another step in strengthening Lublin’s position as a city of modern education and future skills development. Robotics is a sector that is already growing dynamically and finding applications in many areas of the economy, so developing this field is an investment in the potential of young people and the entire labour market. Sectoral Skills Centres are a new model of educational institutions, going beyond the traditional frameworks of vocational education. That is why, in cooperation with the Polish Automation and Robotics Forum and with the support of European funds, we have undertaken a project that combines education with the latest technologies,” said Krzysztof Żuk, Mayor of Lublin.

Official opening of the SSC

The Sectoral Skills Centre (SSC) in the field of Robotics was officially opened on September 2nd, during the ceremonial start of the 2025/2026 school year at the Transport and Communication Schools Complex named after Tadeusz Kościuszko. The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of National Education, the European Parliament, the Republic of Poland, city and regional authorities, as well as the Education System Development Foundation and the Polish Automation and Robotics Forum – the strategic partner of the project.

What is a Sectoral Skills Centre?

The SSC was established thanks to funding from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan. As part of the investment, worth over PLN 13.5 million, the former ZSTK workshop building on Zemborzycka Street was renovated, creating five modern laboratories: two robotics laboratories with industrial robots, a cobotics laboratory, a VR laboratory, and an educational robot laboratory. This is a state-of-the-art educational facility integrating schools and universities with employers, providing innovation and technology transfer support, as well as educational, training, advisory, and promotional activities.

The Centre will offer specialised training for students, university students, vocational teachers, and adults interested in acquiring new qualifications or changing careers. By the end of June 2026, at least 200 participants will benefit from the SSC’s offerings, including 120 adults outside the teaching staff, 60 young people, and 20 teachers. Recruitment for courses covering, among other things, programming cobots and industrial robots, operating autonomous AMR robots, 3D modelling, and robot fleet management will begin in October.

City investing in vocational education

The city of Lublin is systematically investing in the development of vocational education, creating modern conditions for training future specialists. In addition to the Sectoral Skills Centre in robotics, a SSC in the field of construction is being established at the State Schools of Construction and Surveying on Racławickie Avenue. Renovation of workshops and expansion of the hall is underway, with a project valued at nearly PLN 10 million. Another priority is the modernisation of school workshops at the Schools of Electronics, Energy, and the Lublin Centre for Vocational and Continuing Education, including equipping vocational laboratories, with a total investment exceeding PLN 15.1 million.

In total, the city has invested around PLN 30 million in the infrastructure and equipment of vocational schools, significantly improving the quality of practical vocational training and better preparing young people for entry into the labour market.
