Lublin Medical Cluster turns 10!

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the largest medical cluster in Poland - the Lublin Medicine Cluster. On this occasion, a jubilee Gala took place on Monday (March 18).

Health and medicine, in interdisciplinary connection with other sectors of the economy, with particular emphasis on the role of digital technologies, are unquestionable development priorities. In the Lublin Medicine Cluster, technological, organizational, and social innovations in the field of a healthy society, as one of the basic economic specializations of Lublin, are created by representatives of the medical community together with the IT and food industries. As a result, the Cluster engages Lublin-based companies and scientists from key sectors for Lublin. Thanks to this, we can achieve synergy effects by combining the knowledge and experience of many specialists. I thank everyone for their cooperation so far and for undertaking innovative solutions, said Krzysztof Żuk, Mayor of the City of Lublin.

The solemn Gala was an opportunity to summarize the cluster’s activities and thank its members – companies, institutions, and experts. Entities and individuals actively involved in the cluster’s development will receive Medals from the Mayor of the City of Lublin and Medals from the Lublin Union.

The Lublin Medicine Cluster is a platform for cooperation in the field of medical practice and sciences between higher education institutions, scientific research units, healthcare entities, entrepreneurs, business environment institutions, and local government units. The initiative to establish the Lublin Medicine Cluster – the Cluster of Medical and Pro-Health Services – was undertaken by the City of Lublin and the Medical University of Lublin in January 2014. Currently, 175 entities cooperate in the Cluster, including: 142 companies, 9 hospitals, 10 higher education and research institutions, and 12 business environment institutions. Cluster members are working on innovative solutions in the field of medical diagnostics, new therapies, rehabilitation, materials used in regenerative medicine, drugs and dietary supplements, functional food, as well as digital solutions used in healthcare treatment and management processes.

Over the course of 10 years, with the participation of the Cluster Office operated within the Department of Strategy and Investor Services of the Lublin City Office, over 200 key actions supporting the development of the industry have been undertaken, such as international conferences with experts from around the world, inbound and outbound business missions, joint participation in trade fairs, networking meetings, workshops, and training sessions. The Cluster implemented an international project involving 17 partners from Europe, as well as its own original initiatives supporting the development of innovation and inbound medical tourism. It collaborates with experts, clusters, networks, and cooperation platforms from 20 countries. The Lublin Medicine Cluster is highly rated by experts for its innovative activity and cluster processes within the Benchmarking of Clusters conducted by PARP.
