We are celebrating the 10th anniversary of Ball Packaging’s operations in Lublin!

In 2014, Ball Packaging Europe returned to the subzone with a new permit (issued on 26 June 2014) to realise its vision of producing can ends in an innovative factory in the Lublin region. The production complex occupies a 10-hectare site. Initially, the company employed 63 people. Today, the Lublin plant has grown to employ over 350 staff.

In 2021, the company received support under the Polish Investment Zone scheme, and in 2022, it obtained a permit for the expansion of the plant. In September 2023, Ball Beverage Packaging EMEA launched two modern modules at its Lublin factory, producing aluminium can ends for beverages. To date, the company’s total investment in the facility amounts to PLN 761 million.

The Lublin Ball plant stands out globally for its use of innovative automation technologies in the can-end production modules, as well as for its internal logistics and monitoring and management of complex technological processes. The can-end modules are equipped with numerous sensors that monitor their operation and allow production to be controlled in real time, including critical parameters of the production presses. Internal transport is managed by Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs), enabling full automation of production processes. Additionally, a photovoltaic panel system with a capacity of 908.22 kWp installed on the roof reduces electricity consumption.

The company conducts its business in accordance with the principles of sustainable development. Aluminium cans, which have a global recycling rate of around 70% and high recycling efficiency, are the most sustainable and recyclable beverage containers in the world. Once emptied, aluminium cans, bottles, or cups can be recycled and returned to shop shelves in just 60 days!
